They’re back. Today Hostess Twinkies return nationwide with “The Sweetest Comeback In The History Of Ever” stamped on their new boxes. And this time, they have more staying power… almost three weeks to be exact, now that they have a new shelf life of 45 days instead of the previous 26.
The iconic golden sponge cakes with creamy filling have been off the market since November when Hostess when bankrupt. Will their return be welcomed with open mouths? Die hard fans may rush to make up for the months they’ve missed without their beloved Twinkies. But what will the growing health conscious consumer think of the 37 ingredients it takes to make one of these cakes?
Personally, I’m not a fan of boxed cookies or cakes. Or anything much with preservatives and weird additives. Not that I eat clean 100% of the time. I’d just rather get my sugar from a freshly baked cookie or cupcake… or piece of dark chocolate or ice cream, for that matter where I recognize all the ingredients.
